(updated) Willington teacher contract referendum is Friday, Nov. 12
Update – the referendum results are: Yes (reject the contract) 161, and No (accept the contract) 643.

A reminder that Willington electors will be voting on the teacher contract on Friday, Nov. 12. Polls will be open at 40 Old Farms Road from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The deadline for requesting an absentee ballot was Nov. 10.
The ballot asks electors to vote “yes” or “no” on a question that asks if they want to reject the contract.
That means a “yes” vote means you are opposed to the contract and want it rejected.
A “no” vote indicates you support the contract and want it to pass.
The ballot will read:
“Should the legislative body of the Town of Willington reject the negotiated contract between the Willington Board of Education and the Willington Education Association, which covers the period from July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2014?”
For more information, call the Town Clerk’s office at 860 487-3121 during office hours. Remember, Thursday, Nov. 11 is Veteran’s Day and offices will be closed. The Town Clerk’s usual office hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday.

I wish to thank those involved in providing us the you-tube video of the town meeting. It was very informative, and it changed my vote. It makes me wonder the true motive of the people collecting the signatures. From the information provided in the video, it seems so obvious that rejecting the contract would actually (in all likelihood) raise taxes, not lower them. Did these people come from the teacher’s union and use this as a tactic to improve their contract? Makes one wonder. In Great Appreciation!
