Press Release

Mark your calendars… “Still Life with Iris,” a full-length family friendly show, will be performed in October by the talented actors of the award-winning E.O. Smith Drama Club, directed by Lenore Grunko.

“Still Life is Iris,” by Steven Dietz, is a fantastical adventure that centers on a young girl’s search for the simplest of things: home.

Iris lives with her mother in the land of Nocturno – a magical place in which workers make, by night, all of the things we see in the world by day.

Also, in Nocturno, the Great Goods are determined to have the “best” of everything on their island – and therefore take Iris away from her home and bring her to Great Island to be their daughter.

To ease the pain of this separation, they remove her Past Coat, leaving her with no memory of her home or family.

All that remains of Iris’ past is a single button from her coat. Using the button as a clue, Iris joins with friends – Annabel Lee (a young woman from the sea) and Mozart (the composer, age 11) – on a journey to free herself.

Shows are 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27.

All performances will be in the auditorium at E.O. Smith High School, 1235 Storrs Road (Route 195), Storrs-Mansfield, CT  06268.

Tickets – sold at the door – are $8 for general admission and $6 for students and seniors.

Connecticut Water refutes criticisms of UConn water plan

Connecticut Water Eric Thornburg from Town Talk

Connecticut Water is well positioned to provide the water necessary to meet the needs identified for the University and the community over the 50 year planning horizon. The EIE considered the projected demands for the University’s Tech Park and the Next Generation initiative, as well as the Town of Mansfield’s plans for redevelopment of the Four Corners, the proposed managed care facility, and other potential development in the community consistent with their local plans.
