Connecticut State Police Troop C report that a 58-year-old Willington man was killed early this morning (Sept. 24) after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a deer.

The accident took place about 6:40 a.m. on Potter School Road, which is also listed on the police report issued by Officer Bruce Taylor Jr. as the same street where the victim, Kemp B. Stewart Jr., lived, at 79 Potter School Road.

Police say Stewart was driving east on Potter School Road when a deer jumped into the 2005 BMW motorcycle’s path and caused Stewart to steer his motorcycle into an embankment where he collided with “several small saplings and brush.”

Police say Stewart, who was wearing a helmet, was declared dead at the scene and transported via “forensic technician” to the Chief State Medical Examiner’s offices. The motorcycle was towed to a local garage.

Police do not say if there were witnesses to the accident.

The accident is still under investigation.

A Kemp Stewart of Willington is listed on LinkedIn as business unit manager at Whitcraft Group, an aviation and aerospace company based in Eastford, CT.

A Kemp Stewart of Willlington is listed on Facebook as having graduated from Stafford High School.
