A state police detective for the Eastern District Major Crime Squad testified Wednesday the defendant implicated in the death of an infant in foster care disagreed with state medical examiner findings.

Five area fire departments responded with either equipment or manpower to battle a blaze that totally destroyed the upper floor of an Ashford Lake garage Wednesday afternoon.

Students will have to pay more to attend the University of Con-necticut next year after trustees Thursday voted in favor of increasing tuition, room and board fees at the state’s flagship university.
Overall, the cost to attend and live at UConn increases by 5.96 percent for in-state students and 5.77 percent for out-of-state students.
