Mark your calendars for the Willimantic Camp Meeting Association’s 104th Victorian Bazaar, which runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 29.

The event is held at the historic site, at 453 Windham Road/Rt 32 South – one mile south of the Frog Bridge (look for the sign on the right).

Take your pick of crafts and fancy work, flowers and plants, linens and fabric – including vintage and retro, “white elephant” items (antiques, household goods and more) and “Christmas in June” items.

At Eastern Connecticut State University’s 123rd Commencement exercises 1,256 undergraduates and 41 graduate students heard the roars and cheers of thousands of their family members and friends as they celebrated their achievements.

Commencement exercises were held at the XL Center in Hartford, CT on May 14.

Carlotta Walls LaNier, the youngest member of the “Little Rock Nine,” gave the Commencement address.

A vigil will be held today (May 20) at 3 p.m. on the campus of Eastern Connecticut State University, to gather in memory of 20-year-old Alyssiah Wiley, who was found dead after weeks of searching.

Wiley was reported missing on April 24, but was last seen on Main Street in Willimantic on April 20. She had told friends and roommates she was going home, to West Haven, CT.

Police arrest suspect in the murder of ECSU student

CT State Police report that the remains found with the aid of police dogs on Friday in Trumbull near the Bridgeport line is the body of the missing Eastern Connecticut State University student Alyssiah Wiley.

Police also say they have arrested a suspect in connection with her death, a 30-year-old man, Jermaine Richards, of Bridgeport.

On May 7, 2013 members of The State Police Statewide Narcotic Task Force – East Field Office with the assistance of Troop C police and the DEA Hartford Office executed a search and seizure warrant at 122 Nagy Road in Ashford, CT.

Police referred to the site as a “marijuana grow house’ and say more than 100 marijuana plants, 2.5 pounds of marijuana pre-packaged for sale, $2,100 in cash, drug paraphernalia and cultivation and packaging material were seized.

Connecticut Water is well positioned to provide the water necessary to meet the needs identified for the University and the community over the 50 year planning horizon. The EIE considered the projected demands for the University’s Tech Park and the Next Generation initiative, as well as the Town of Mansfield’s plans for redevelopment of the Four Corners, the proposed managed care facility, and other potential development in the community consistent with their local plans.
